Jakarta– The leading Algerian export company, EURL Global Greenland, Ltd, has officially appointed the law firm TNC & Friends as its legal representative in Indonesia to confront delinquent importers who engage in default or non-payment actions. This firm step was taken to restore the company’s financial rights and improve the collectability of trade receivables for their export products in the Indonesian market.
EURL Global Greenland, Ltd is one of the main producers, packers, and exporters of premium Deglet Noor dates based in Algeria. This type of date is widely known in the global market, including Indonesia, as a high-quality product. However, along the way, the management found obstacles from several local importers who deliberately delayed or did not fulfilll their payment obligations after receiving the goods. The moral hazard actions of these unscrupulous trade partners are considered highly detrimental to the international business climate.
One of the rogue importers is PT Agro Exim Brothers, based in North Jakarta. PT Agro Exim Brothers, a fruit import company in Indonesia, is suspected of committing international trade fraud. The company refuses to pay a bill worth billions of rupiah for the shipment of dozens of tons of dates, even though the commodity has already been sold out in the domestic market in Indonesia. Based on the Cost and Freight (CFR) Jakarta contract agreement, payment should have been settled since the due date on May 23, 2025. Although the goods have been fully received and commercially distributed through a third party, the buyer has not made any payment at all. The total arrears from the two invoices for November 2024 amount to USD 136,800.
The Director of EURL Global Greenland, Ltd, Mohamed Zid, stated that his company has appointed the law firm TNC & Friends to take legal steps, both non-litigation and, if necessary, litigation against PT Agro Exim Brothers. Meanwhile, according to Yusuf Wibisono, Senior Partner at TNC & Friends, his firm will send a formal notice to PT Agro Exim Brothers in North Jakarta to urge the importer to fulfilll their obligations immediately.
Meanwhile, Thalis Noor Cahyadi, Managing Partner of TNC & Friends, emphasized that they are still giving PT Agro Exim Brothers time to fulfilll their obligations in good faith. “If PT Agro Exim Brothers does not fulfilll their obligations to our clients in good faith within the time frame we have provided, we will be forced to take legal action both nationally and internationally, and we will also file for bankruptcy in the Commercial Court,” Thalis asserted.
